About
Learn the basics of natural dyeing, working with protein fibers (wool and silk) and plant/cellulose fiber (cotton). The first day will focus on preparing the fiber by scouring as well as the use of tannins and mordants. Day two will introduce color with natural dyes derived from plants and insects.
You'll go home with samples including wool yarn, a silk scarf and a cotton handkerchief.

A $37 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers wool mini skeins for dyeing, a cotton handkerchief, a silk scarf, dyes, and mordants, all of which you'll be given in class.
