About

Make something you can use with this beginning bladesmithing course that covers the basics of the trade. You'll learn proper hammering and filing techniques, along with heat treatment ideas.

Introductory classes are for everyone. Whether you have never stood near a blazing forge or you're a bit seasoned, these classes have something to offer regardless of your experience. Beginning classes are designed to teach very specific blacksmithing safety and techniques, while familiarizing students with forging equipment. Introductory classes focus on hammering skills, while you learn to draw, taper, and upset (a more advanced technique that makes metal thicker, shorter, and narrower) your projects. You make your own version of the project.

Blacksmithing is simple but it is not easy. Come and enjoy a day at the forge but do be careful, this ancient art is very addictive!

Materials

A $30 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers everything you'll need.
