About

Need a snack? Who doesn't! Come to BARN and learn how to make your own soft pretzels. We'll boil and bake, and talk about how this process applies to bagel making, too.

Bring a child 6 and up with you, and you’ll both learn how to handle yeasted dough, how to make different shapes, including those alluring pretzel bites. Learn how pretzel making can be a prerequisite for jumping into homemade bagels, and how to freeze pretzels for later.

You'll take home recipes plus a batch of hot pretzels for immediate eating or parbaked for later.

Materials

A $15 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers everything you'll need.

Class Policies

  • Ages 16 and up are welcome (kids over 6 with adult).
  • You must wear closed-toe shoes to class.
  • You must be registered for the class (no drop-ins).

Anne Willhoit

Anne is a teacher, food writer, photographer, and parent. She writes the biweekly From Scratch column for the Kitsap Sun and has published work in several magazines. She tries really hard to only make one big kitchen mess per day but rarely achieves this goal. She likes to collect and play with recipes and is always grateful for the seasonal bounty that our island provides. Anne is excited to return to teaching at BARN and has been involved with it since the beautiful kitchen and concept was just a mere gleam in the founding committee's eye. Follow her food journey and maybe learn a few things on Instagram @aawillhoit.
