About

Build confidence by learning and gaining a good understanding of the copper foil technique for stained glass. Learning starts with hand-cutting clear glass in straight lines, using copper tape, and then soldering shapes together. By the end of the week, you'll be cutting curves and using a glass grinder to fine tune your glass pieces to make a perfect fit.

Projects can range from a 10-inch square design with clear glass and then progress to more intricate patterns using a range of colored glass. Experienced students can suggest their own project designs.

Project

After completing a 10-square pyramid with copper foil, you'll advance to creating a heart or star in stained glass, and then finish the week with a small panel to hang in a window or place on a stand.

If you have previous glass cutting and stained glass experience, you can choose a more complicated pattern with the instructor’s approval. The instructor’s focus is on your completion of a nice-looking project rather than the project's complexity.

Materials

A materials fee of $30, included in the cost of the class, covers everything you need.
