Teens (grades 7-12), come to BARN for a free evening of art, friends, and creativity! Registration opens one month before the event.

You'll be able to choose your activity during registration.

About

You'll start with a pizza dinner and hang out in the BARN Commons. Then you'll head to one of the studios for a fun project. You'll choose your own studio activity during registration.

At the end of the night, you'll gather in the Commons again to enjoy a sweet treat and show your friends what you made.

Details

  • Teen nights are for students in 7th to 12th grades.
  • The event is free, but registration is required.
  • Find you can't make it after you register? Please let us know so we can open your spot to others.
  • Registration closes when the limit is reached.
  • If there are no open spaces, join the wait list. You'll be notified by email if a space becomes available.
  • All teens will be asked to check in and confirm their emergency contact information upon arrival.

Registering Youth

  • Parent/guardian registering a child for the first time: When you register, select "Others Only" in the "Who Are You Registering?" section. On the next page, select "Add New Registrant." Create an account for your child.
    • The next time you register your child, use "Search Registrants" to select them.
  • Make sure to fill out your youth's emergency contact information and other details when creating their account.

Project

Here are some details on this month's projects!

Glass Arts Studio: Learn how to use the glass torch to melt and shape glass. 

Jewelry & Fine Metals Studio: Sort through hundreds of beads to make unique handmade beaded hanging earrings. 

Metal Fabrication: Learn how use the plasma cutter and make sheet-metal art with Bob in the metal shop.  

Woodworking Studio: Learn how to use woodworking hand tools to make  a super sized 14 sided dice, perfect for gamers and Dungeon and Dragon fans. Customize your die with paint pens or wood burning tools.  

Writers Studio: Are you ready to put your vocabulary to the test? Join us for the ultimate Scrabble showdown! Show off your linguistic skills and go head-to-head with other teen wordsmiths. Grab your tiles, summon your inner lexicon legend, and let the wordplay begin.

Tech Lab: Students will combine simple electronic components with different recycled and crafting materials to make a one-of-a-kind funny-looking walking robot.

Kitchen Studio: Learn the fundamentals on how to braise chicken that is incorporated in a recipe based on Braised Chicken. Learn how to cut and prep the vegetables and understand the process of using braising to cook meat.  

Casual Crafts in Great Room: Bring your own craft project to work on, or enjoy one of our casual craft options while listening to music. Each month we'll provide new, self-directed, casual craft activities. This month we will be providing an knitting table with lots of yarn, needles and looms, a wooden photo frame to custom decorate, and an origami table. 

Class Policies

  • Open to students in grades 7-12.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required for all Teen Night activities.
  • Some activities may include the use of hot metal, sparks, sharp objects, power tools, soldering irons, and other tools and materials that must be used with care.
