About

A track saw produces straight and angled cuts with the accuracy of a table saw, but instead of having to move the wood past a spinning blade, you move the saw on a track while the wood is stationary. It's a safer way to cut when you're dealing with heavy slabs or full sheets of hardwood plywood, or need to cut pieces with sharp angles. The track saws are plunge cutters, which also makes them useful for cutting shapes that would be impossible to create on a table saw.

This class will walk you through the basics of this machine. You'll learn:

  • How to support the wood you'll cut.
  • How to set up and use the track.
  • How to choose the right saw (BARN has two sizes) and set the depth of cut.
  • How to plunge the blade into the wood and make the cut.

Details

This is not a "project" class. You'll make test cuts.
