Explore recipe literacy through the versatility of soup making and delicious bakes! From a chunky chili with spicy and zesty flavors to a tomato soup with grilled cheese and a chicken noodle soup with focaccia – the possibilities are endless!
In this month’s series, learn:
- Recipe Literacy: How to read, scale, and personalize recipes.
- Culinary Confidence: Experience a commercial kitchen and gain confidence from sharing tasks to finally demonstrating a soup and bread recipe.
- Soup Skills: Leave with a repertoire of skills, including knife techniques, sautéing, puréeing, and building a broth from scratch.
- Baking Skills: Elevate a meal with quick breads like cornbread, scones, or focaccia, turning a soup into a family meal.
On the Menu:
- Week 1: Chili and Cornbread.
- Week 2: Roasted Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese.
- Week 3: Chicken Noodle Soup with Mini Sourdough Rosemary Focaccia.

Registering Youth
- Parent/guardian registering a child for the first time: When you register, select "Others Only" in the "Who Are You Registering?" section. On the next page, select "Add New Registrant." Create an account for your child.
- The next time you register your child, use "Search Registrants" to select them.
- Make sure to fill out your youth's emergency contact information and other details when creating their account.
