Practice a variety of blacksmithing methods that'll take you through the steps of making this fun-for-the-holidays piece. Specifically, you'll learn to draw, twist, taper, and bend steel with hammer, tongs, and an anvil.

What's best about working a project in Yori's forge is that it is FUN! The rustic environment and Yori's easy manner make for a fun-filled learning experience. You won't be disappointed.

Details

This class is held in an open-air workshop, so dress accordingly.

Materials

A $15 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers all the material you'll need.

Class Policies

  • Wear natural fiber clothing only (no synthetics that could melt on your skin).
  • Wear closed-toe shoes or boots. Sandals are not permitted.
  • Ages 14 and up are welcome.

Yori Seeger

Yori is a sculptor and a blacksmith who trained in Florence, Italy, and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute. He cofounded an art school called Visual Philosophy where he created and taught the curriculum for both blacksmithing and sculpting programs. He has worked in sculpture studios, foundries, and blacksmith shops for 20-plus years. He specializes in large-scale, figurative sculpture; ornamental ironwork; and forging woodworking tools.
