About
Jade Knox is an up-and-coming, Seattle-based, young sculptor, painter, and mixed-media artist. She'll discuss her current work, which will be displayed in a pop-up show following her talk. Also planned is a public discussion of Peter C. Sprung's "Artists Foment" project, an initiative to foster artist collaborations and social action for environmentalism, social justice, and diversity.
Knox's contemporary artistic practice focuses on ceramic sculptures that "occupy the space between abstraction and representation and create an unsettling yet captivating atmosphere that asks the viewer to question what wonders the vast expanse of universe holds." Her work has been shown in exhibitions around the U.S. See more on her website.
This is the third in a continuing series hosted by Bainbridge Island sculptor and painter Peter C. Sprung as part of his "Artists Foment" project. The project, supported by a grant from Arts & Humanities Bainbridge, incubates regular meetings, presentations, dialogue, and collaborations among area artists. The project encourages artists to make artwork collaboratively and develop spin-off projects that will promote community engagement and social action.
